Parades in Jackson

Jackson has some great attractions and festivals. One of the beautiful things about the Jackson area is that it is retained its small town feel while offering many events and destinations that would only be offered in a larger area. One of the most popular events in the Jackson area is the Jackson County Rose Festival. Now in its 56th year, the festival celebrates Jackson which is known as The Rose City because of its official flower. The parade, which brings people out from all over the county and beyond, started in 1958 and two years later, the Jackson County Rose Queen Pageant was inaugurated.

The Jackson County Rose Parade usually happens in June and the theme in 2015 is going to be “Sizzlin' Summer: Celebrating all the summer events and things to do in Jackson during the summer.” Local organizations join forces to reward achievers in the community while at the same time promote themselves. The Rose Parade is one of the largest in Michigan with over 100 entries participating every year. The parade runs from S. Jackson Street and Greenwood Street to Fourth Street and ends at Parkside. The parade usually starts at 1:00 p.m. It truly is a good time had by all and it is a kick back event that has the feeling of old time Americana. Immediately following the parade there is an event known as Picnic in the Park which is held at Ella Sharp Park. Over the years, the days events have grown tremendously and it truly is a fun time for all participants and spectators.

When you arrive at the parade, your drivers will let you off at the most convenient drop off point so that you don't have to walk a mile to get to the parade. You can watch all of the floats and bands go by for as long as you care to and then head back to the party bus. If you have another destination in mind, you can certainly tell your driver to take you there or have it on your itinerary from the beginning of the trip.
